Renowned for its high-quality, professional art supplies and writing instruments, Faber-Castell is an internationally-recognized leader in its industry. With the holiday season upon them, Faber-Castell required a mobile site that would compel its visitors to spend time shopping, while mirroring the experience of the “sister” desktop site.
Due to changing market conditions, Faber-Castell USA was in need of a mobile sister site in anticipation of the mobile-driven holiday traffic to their international desktop site (also produced by Paragon). The mobile site needed to be built separately from the existing site, and would require a custom importer to be developed to load over a thousand unique products. The jump from desktop to mobile seemed like a natural fit for Faber Castell’s business goals, and Paragon stepped in to make the transition a seamless one.
The new sister site was built with responsive design in mind, which allowed it to adapt as traffic grew in future phases. While showcasing beautiful product imagery, the mobile site provided customers with fully-equipped browsing, rating, reviewing, and purchasing functionality. With our custom-built administration screen, staff gained the ability to manage the approval process of customer-submitted reviews and ratings. The team also developed a client-side mobile detection component, which properly directed mobile users from the desktop site to its mobile counterpart.
